LEESBURG, FLA. -- Lake County deputies shot and killed a man who pointed a gun at them Sunday morning.

Deputies were investigating a reported assault when they went to a Leesburg apartment looking for one of the men said to have been involved in an incident.

Investigators say two men were seen fighting and one of the men was wielding a cinder block when witnesses broke up the fight.

When deputies knocked at the door, they were greeted by Andrew Scott, 26.  According to a report, Scott answered the door with a gun and pointed it at the deputies.

The deputies opened fire, killing Scott.  Inside the home, they found drugs and drug paraphernalia.  Investigators say Scott has a violent criminal history.

The deputy who fired the fatal shot has been placed on administrative leave while the Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigates the incident.

Not far from the scene, deputies arrested 31-year-old Jonathan Brown.  He was charged with attempted murder.  Authorities say 25-year-old Anthony Rodriguez was charged with felony battery.
