LeBron James Named MVP

MIAMI, FLA. -- LeBron James has been named the National Basketball Association's Most Valuable Player for the 2011-2012 season.

James has won the award three out of the past four years, but this is his first MVP Award since joining the Miami Heat last year.

For this season, James is averaging 27.1 points, 7.9 rebounds and 6.2 assists per game. 

More importantly, LeBron's Heat have advanced to the NBA Eastern Conference Semifinals.  The Heat will play the Indiana Pacers for game one Sunday afternoon from Miami.

 

In other state sports:


  • Kevin Na (-12) leads The Players Championship at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach after the first three rounds.  Matt Kuchar is in second at -11.  Ricy Fowler currently sits in third place at -9.  Zach Johnson and Ben Curtis are tied for fourth place at -7. 
  • The Tampa Bay Rays have lost six out of their last seven games.  The Rays lost Saturday night to the Baltimore Orioles 5-3.  With the loss, Matt Moore falls to 1-3 in his rookie season. 
  • The Miami Marlins lost on the road Saturday night, falling to the New York Mets 9-3.  The Marlins batters were 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position.
