PENSACOLA, FLA. -- Astronauts Neil Armstrong, Gene Cernan, and Mark Kelly were on hand for a special dedication in the Florida panhandle Friday.

Armstrong and Cernan, the first and last men respectively to walk on the moon, and Mark Kelly, one of the last shuttle commanders, attended the opening of the national Flight Academy at the Pensacola naval Air Station.

The astronauts made their appearance to show their support for naval aviation and to welcome the new academy in its mission to teach math and science to youngsters through an aviation-oriented camp.

Supporters of the $33 million academy say it's like a space camp, taken to the next higher octave. The new facility houses more simulators and more room for interactive 'missions.'

Kelly was the keynote speaker for the event.
