ORLANDO, FLA. -- TurtleTrek, SeaWorld Orlando's newest attraction, opened to audiences just in time for the weekend.

The Orlando adventure park rolled out the attraction, which features the world's first 3D 360 degree dome theater experience, Friday.

The attraction also features dozens of live sea turtles and manatees in naturalistic habitats.

According to a release from SeaWorld, the attraction offers a blend of up-close encounters with manatees and sea turtles and state-of-the art entertainment, in a setting that is completely surrounding and immersive.

Guests first visit two massive naturalistic habitats, home to manatees and sea turtles, then they enter a domed theater.

Inside the dome, they're surrounded by what SeaWorld describes as a "hyper-realistic, 3D 360 degree film" that takes them on the life journey of a sea turtle named Nyah.

The experience is all around guests and even above them - not just in front of them or only on one screen.

For the first time, SeaWorld guests are also given a turtle's eye view of the ocean’s wonders.

Starting at TurtleTrek, SeaWorld and all its parks are adding a new wrinkle to the guest experience.

They're eliminating plastic gift bags within the next year.

SeaWorld will be the largest theme park operator to make this commitment.

The eco-friendly move will save an estimated 4 million plastic bags per year from both entering landfills and impacting wildlife.
