WINTER HAVEN, FLA. -- Polk County authorities are investigating a shooting early Sunday morning the left one man dead.
Investigators with the Polk County sheriff's office say Christopher Brian Deese, 40, broke into a Winter Haven home before banging on the door of another home nearby.
Detectives say the homeowner armed himself and went to the door, telling Deese to leave, but he continued banging on the door.
According to a report, the homeowner opened the front door and told Deese again to leave, this time through a screen door.
That's when Deese forced his way in and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, two shots were fired, one bullet struck Deese in the chest.
He was declared dead at the scene.
Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd says charges will not be filed against the homeowner.
