TALLAHASSEE, FLA. -- Officials at Visit Florida, the state's official tourism marketing corporation, say more than 23 million visitors traveled here during the first quarter of 2012.
That's an increase of almost two and a half percent over last year's record performance.
There were more domestic tourists... and more snowbirds from Canada.
The biggest increase, however, was in the number of overseas visitors... up by 13 percent.
It takes a lot of people to handle all those vacationers, so Florida has added almost 20 thousand jobs in the tourism sector over the past year.
More tourism-related businesses are doing more hiring this year, as well.
Most notable among those posting the 'help wanted' signs is Universal Studios Orlando. That theme park put out the word recently that it's seeking 1,000 new hires.
