According to Tampa-based AAA, the average price for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline has fallen again, despite rising oil prices.
The national average for a gallon of regular gasoline was $3.86, a decline of 4-cents from the week before. Florida saw a similar decrease of 6-cents to $3.88.
The price per barrel of crude oil closed Friday on the New York Mercantile Exchange at $103.88, an increase of $1.05 from the week before.
AAA spokesperson Jessica Brady said uncertainty over the U.S. economy and increasing concern over the European debt crisis resulted in less demand.
"Gas prices are finally moving in a positive direction for motorists," said Brady. "While its very likely retail gas prices will retreat further this week, it doesnt necessarily mean weve seen the peak price for 2012. Its still very early in the year and we could see gas prices inch back up in May or June depending on how the May 23 meeting between Iran and members of the United Nations turns out and whether or not we have a busy hurricane season.
