Weekend rains did little to diminish the threat of wildfires across Florida.

According to the Florida Forest Service, there are currently 91 fires burning in dozens of counties. Most of the fires are in the central part of the state.

Sixteen of those fires are larger than 100 acres.

Since the beginning of the year, the Forest Service has responded to a total of 1,418 fires. Officials say those fires have scorched nearly 36,000 acres.

A total of ten Florida counties have issued burn bans. Those counties are Flagler, Glades, Hendry, Lake, Okeechobee, Osceola, Polk, Putnam, Seminole and Volusia.
