MELBOURNE, FLA. -- Weekend plans are afoot for the President after a busy week in Washington.
That week included Donald Trump choosing Alex Acosta, dean of Florida International University law school, to be the next labor Secretary.
Acosta has also been a Miami US Attorney who has been at the helm of high profile prosecutions, including former Broward County Sheriff Ken Jenne.
He has clerked for Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito , and would be the first Hispanic nominated to Trump's cabinet.
Political scientists like Aubrey Jewett, University of Central Florida, say Acosta should be one of those nominees who passes muster with the Senate easily.
The weekend ahead for Trump, however, is expected to be one without the hustle and bustle of Washington.
Jewett says that Trump, during a customary weekend visit to his Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach County, is also going to make a short hop north to Melbourne for a Saturday rally.
"We are about to see his first official campaign event coming up in Florida," Jewett said.
Donald Trump filed for re-election on inauguration day; and less than a month into his presidency, it appears he's launching his 2020 re-election campaign.
Jewett says this is something new to the political playbook ... but Trump won on a campaign that seemed to thrive on shredding the rule book.
