MIAMI, FLA. -- The Travel Channel is launching a new reality TV series, called America's Worst Driver.

The quest for contestants took the TV show producers to Miami last week, where they say they found four excellent candidates.

That could be bad news for the rest of us, who seek some small degree of consolation as we tool along the roads of the Sunshine State, hoping that our drivers are not so bad that they are actively sought for Reality TV.

One contender, nominated by her sister, described herself as "an aggressive driver," while the sister just described her as "a maniac" when she took to the streets.

The Travel Channel said contestants had to navigate several obstacles, which included a driving challenge that was scored by an off-duty cop. The person who managed to be most oblivious to the rules of the road was scored as the worst of the worst on that particular challenge.

The Travel Channel said the competition among Miami's worst four drivers ended late last week, advancing the winner to the finals. That person will compete against drivers from such heavy-hitting cities as New York, Los Angeles, Seattle, Boston, and San Francisco.

The Travel Channel did not disclose the winner/loser of the Miami contest, and will make no disclosures until the series finale.

TV officials said the worst driver in Miami, as in every city, gets crowned in unmistakable glory. That person stands in line with the other contestants and awaits the verdict.

When the verdict is rendered, the car's owner watches as his or her vehicle is blown to pieces.

With the series finale, there could be some consolation in the works for Miami's worst driver, whoever that may be. The Travel Channel says seven of the eight worst drivers will be awarded a new car, to replace the one that was exploded.

The series begins airing in March, according to the Travel Channel.
