When I was a little girl.....and that was.....many years ago....
I lived in Maine and my parents had 2 greenhouses and one of them was very near my bedroom window and I could see inside it easily........and I could see some Snapdragons in many colors....and I loved to watch them grow.
Now things have changed a lot....(you may insert a few giggles here).
And.....It's now 2019 and it's the year of the Snapdragons. Snapdragons have a nice scent and often people don't really realize that. If you walked through a place where there are lots of snapdragons growing you will be attracted to their fragrant flowers.
Snapdragons are very attractive to pollinators like hummingbirds, bumble bees and other bees. Now if you live in a woodsy area you don't have to worry about deer or rabbits stopping buy to use them for food.... as they are not a preferred food for them.
Snapdragons come in many different heights and widths. Dwarf ones are the most common ones seen at garden centers. Their compact habit makes them ideal for garden plantings and in containers for porches, patios or even in pots by a pool area.
There are also other ones in medium sizes and tall series.
There is a new one called Snaptastic and it has good branching and probably won't need staking and will retain the classic look of traditional snapdragons.
There is also a series called Candy Showers and it the first trailing snapdragon series from seed. It is perfect for hanging baskets, window boxes and patio containers.
