TALLAHASSEE, FLA. -- A political shake-up in Tallahassee. Rick Scott will have to find a new number 2 because his running mate has bowed out.

Lieutenant Governor Jennifer Carroll's resignation caught the capitol by surprise.

A statement from the governor's Chief of Staff says Carroll called it quits to keep her legal problems from becoming a distraction to the Rick Scott administration.

Carroll once worked as a PR consultant for Allied Veterans of the World, a chain of internet cafes that are now at the center of a federal investigation.

Carroll was interviewed Tuesday by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

Gov. Scott says he's withholding comment until after a press conference this afternoon with Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi in Orlando.
